  8. Description:   MP3 CD Organizer helps you to get all your mp3 files
  9.                organized. Once the program has scanned your CD's and
  10.                harddrive(s) you will always know where to find a song.
  11.                It has powerful functions to search through the
  12.                database. To assist in bringing order in folders with
  13.                large numbers of unsorted files, Organizer has a feature
  14.                to automatically sort the files into appropriate sub-                
  15.                folders. Organizer also frontends Winamp for easy
  16.                playback of the songs that you have put on the playlist.
  17.                To make your own favorite list of songs for fast
  18.                playback later, Organizer can write playlist files,
  19.                save and edit ID3 tags, create HTML documents with your
  20.                lists of songs, eliminate duplicate songs and much more!

  40. Description of the different functions in the program:
  41.  
  42. Player
  43. Controls       - These are buttons to control Winamp.
  44.  
  45. Update Winamp  - Sends the songs in the playlist to Winamp.
  46.                  To overcome the problem with having songs on different
  47.                  CD's, select "copy to tempdir" in options, and the
  48.                  music on the CD's will be copied to the harddrive.
  49.  
  50. Copy           - Copies the songs in the playlist to a directory.
  51.  
  52. New            - Adds a new CD or a Directory to the database. All
  53.                  subdirectories will be scanned if selected in options.
  54.  
  55. Delete         - Removes a session from the database.
  56.  
  57. Delete File    - Deletes the currently selected file in the library.
  58.                  Use this option with caution since it will physically
  59.                  delete the mp3 file from disk.
  60.  
  61. Playlist       - Writes the files you have chosen to a playlist
  62.                  file, M3U. If you later double-click on this file,
  63.                  the mp3's listed in it will be played in Winamp.

  65. HTML           - Creates an HTML document with the list of your files.

  67. Options        - Brings up the options dialog.

  69. Random         - Randomly adds songs to the library.

  71. Lyrics         - Displays the lyrics for the selected song.

  73. Preview        - Plays the selected song in the library.

  75. Search         - Searches for the files matching your specified
  76.                  criteria. You can drag & drop information from
  77.                  'ID3 Tags found' to these fields.

  79. Quick menu     - A quick-menu will appear when clicking the right
  80.                  mouse button.

  82. Save           - Saves ID3 info in the mp3 file. If the file is
  83.                  on a read-only media, the changes are made in the
  84.                  database only.

  86. Multisave      - Saves the artist, album, year and genre to a
  87.                  group of songs selected in the library.

  89. Session List   - Click a session in the list to display its contents
  90.                  in the library. Double-click a session to update it.

  97. subdirectories - Searches all subdirectories when adding files.

  100. tempdir        - Copies the files to a tempdir if they are on CD's.
  101.                  Then they will be played from there.
  102. Case sensitive
  103. search         - Differs between small letters, and capital letters
  104.                  in the search.

  106. Winamp:

  108. Find Winamp    - Searches for Winamp on your harddrive. You can
  109.                  also choose to do this manually.

  112. playback       - The currently played song wont be interrupted
  113.                  when pressing 'Update Winamp'.

  115. Formatting:

  117. Don't use ID3
  118. tags           - If selected, Organizer will ignore any ID3
  119.                  information stored in each mp3 file (ID3 is a
  120.                  standard of storing information about artist,
  121.                  title, album and more, in the mp3 file).
  122.                  Otherwise, ID3 tags will always be used before the
  123.                  operation 'Filename formatting'.
  124. Filename
  125. Formatting     - If your files have a name convention, such as
  126.                  'artist-title.mp3', Organizer can use
  127.                  that for displaying info about the song.
  128.                  Just type how your filenames are structured
  129.                  in the edit field.
  130.                  Ex. %1 - %2 _ %3 means your files should be
  131.                  like this: 'artist-title_album.mp3'.

  133. Use folder as  - This option lets you choose if the name of the
  134.                  folder, where the file is stored, should be used
  135.                  to represent the artist, or the album, or if it
  136.                  should not be used at all.
  137.                  As with 'Filename formatting', this option will be
  138.                  overridden if there is ID3 information in the file.

  142. Lets you choose which info to show in the library.

  146. Contains volume control and equlizer for the internal player.

  151. Load Playlist     - Loads a playlist to the library

  153. Import            - Let you import a old database or a saved playlist.

  155. Update Session    - Updates a session and check if any files has been
  156.                     added/removed from the specified location.

  159. File              - Removes the selected file from the harddrive.

  161. Create shortcut   - Creates a shortcut on the desktop.

  163. Check for Updates - Connects to the Internet and check if there is a                       newer version available.

  168. Instructions for getting the program to run:

  170. Short Instructions:

  172. Simply run the installer and install the files in a folder of your choice. If you have a previuos version, you may want to keep your old
  173. database. You need to have the newest Mfc42.dll and ODBC support for 
  174. MS Access installed. The last-mentioned is included in the MS Office 
  175. 97/2000 installation and can also be downloaded freely from Microsoft.

  177. Long Instructions:

  179. This program is compiled with Visual C++ 6.0 and requires the newest
  180. Mfc42.dll. This file MUST be in the system in order for the program
  181. to work. If not found, the following error message will be returned:
  182. "The ORGANIZER.EXE file is linked to missing export MFC42.DLL:6880."
  183. The file can be downloaded from MS or from my homepage. It should
  184. then be placed in the windows\system directory, or in the Organizer
  185. folder.

  187. This program uses Winamp mp3 player, which must be present in the
  188. system. Winamp is shareware and can be downloaded from www.winamp.com.
  189. Winamp is the only player that will work.
  190.  
  191. Winamp 3 requires a special plugin in order to work with Organizer.

  194. In order to get MP3 CD Organizer to run properly, there are some
  195. things that you need to have on your computer. Since this program
  196. uses a MS Access 97 database, you will need to have ODBC with
  197. support for Access 97 databases installed. Probably, you already
  198. have this if you are running Office 97/2000. These drivers can also
  199. be downloaded from the MS site. www.microsoft.com/data/odbc
